I'm Back
Things have slowed down around here and it makes me so happy! We had bible study and a class of Hayden's cancelled. And my boss was out of town so my work schedule was quite, ahem, flexible. I got some much needed rest and I feel so much better. Remind me about that when I want to register the kids for tons of classes next summer! We need more time to walk to the park, swim, and just be.

Happy Birthday, Gigi!
Gigi turned an undisclosed age last week. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GIGI!
We baked a cake.
The fruits of our labor. So fancy with the sprinkles.
Blowing out the candles. The "birthday princess" hat was supposed to be lent to Gigi, but apparently Syd didn't feel comfortable with that. She insisted on wearing it herself. Her birthday is in January.
Hayden loves to blow out the candles, and we re-light them a few times so he can do just that. Somehow we ended up with a picture of him pointing, instead.

Quote of the Day
"Because I like my legs."
-Syd L. on why she insists on never wearing pants while at home
Our 911 Emergency :)
Yesterday H-Dubya and I went to pick Syd up from her "art class". She has taken an "art factory camp" at the Garden and Arts Center everyday this week from 9-10:30. This week's theme was paint, so they paint, read books, play games, go on a nature walk, and have a snack everyday. She absolutely loves it. She is going to participate in another camp in August, and as much as she has enjoyed this one I am tempted to let her take one in July, also. But then I think about how busy we are and it is supposed to be summer, darn it!
Anywho, after we picked her up we headed over to the CVS on 34th and Slide. All CVS's were having a 4 12 packs for $11 sale. The CVS's near our house were all picked over. When we get there, they have cars that are connected to the front of the baskets. They are "made" to accomodate one child. However my two petite children managed to squeeze in. Syd was a real witch about the steering wheel. I had to absolutely force her to let H-Dubya have a turn. Eventually, he was so offfended he got out, and I can't say I blame him. Not one bit. His walking of course brought another set of problems, and let's just say I was unable to continue choosing some father's day cards. FATHERS DAY is SUNDAY, for those who have forgotten.
We head outside to get the kids in the car. I remote start it because it has been up to 105 degrees here lately. I wish I were exaggerating. Syd gets settled in her seat, and H-Dubya is so thrilled to have the car to himself he hauls himself back in. And the cart begins to roll away. So I close Syd's door and catch it.
This is unfortunate. Because my keys were in. the. car.
Of course, I thought Syd is such a bright girl that surely she can unbuckle herself and get the keys. Um, not a chance. She sits and cries, and a sweet old woman notices our peril. My cell phone is of course, in. the. car. So she offers hers and tells me to call 911 as they will come unlock a car with a child in it for free. I go ahead and do just that.
And here comes a FIRE TRUCK. That is right. Lights are going, and so is the siren. We all stop crying, but out of the three of us I am the only one who is moritified. They open the car in less than 2 minutes. I mentioned on the phone that I had remote started the car so the air conditioner would be going for awhile. It stopped literally about a min before the FIRE TRUCK pulled up. Apparently that piece of information was not relayed, because a fireman runs over to Syd's side with a blood pressure cuff, throws open the door and asks if she is hot. She says no and smiles and laughs. She has not broken a sweat. So he moved along. And so did we.
I call Brokeback on the way home. His only response was, "you should have called onstar. They could have unlocked the suburban for you." Nice.

So much to blog about, so little time!
It has been a BUSY couple of weeks for us (or, me. and when mama is busy everybody is busy). We have had baby showers, birthday parties, Brokeback's birthday, Gigi's birthday, issues with the pool heater, issues with the pool pump (which Brokeback fixed by himself yesterday for $100, thank you very much), and more. And it doesn't look like it will be slowing down anytime soon.
BUT I will be posting today and for the next few days!

Big News
To us, that is. Syd asked to sleep in her panties instead of a pull-up, tonight. She actually didn't so much ask as just take the it off and put her underwear on. She hasn't been wet in awhile, so I think it will go well.
She ALSO has taken the initiative to turn her own music on once she goes through her praise cd. She pushes the button that makes it play randomly. Of course I just praised her to high heaven on that one. She usually comes in and asks me to start the music over if she wakes up, no matter the time of night or day.
Let's hope this improves her sleep (well, actually mine). She got up at 11 to go to the bathroom last night, and the two nights before she was up at 11, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and one night even 4. It KILLS me. I pray to my LORD for kindness and grace and it fails me at this time of the night. We are all pretty tired after that, of course.

The WORST Teacher in the US of A.
A poor kindergarten student was put through what one website described as a "psychological lynching" in front of his entire kindergarten class. Alex, who is 5 years old and going through testing for Asperger's Syndrome, was called to the front of the room and each student was allowed to say what they didn't like about him, which included words like "disgusting" and "annoying". They then attempted to "vote him out" of the class. This teacher should have her certificate revoked! What a horrible woman.
